Obviously everyone on OPPO is a car enthusiast of some kind. Unfortunately that doesn't necessarily mean we can just go out and drive cars that cost as much as houses for fun. !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! even told me about how he turned down the oppurtonity to test drive an R8. So, I'm curious, what is the most "exotic" car you've ever driven?

'86 930 Flachbau. 1 of 3, maybe 5.

My Father's C5 Corvette was the most "Exotic" car I've ever driven.
I've never been able to get my hands on anything more than that.
I do have an interesting story involving a Ferrari from when I was a Kid though.

Short run in a Veyron
An hour with an F1 (my right foot is still nervously shaking 12 years later)
Extended time in an LP640
My friends dad's F40 for a photo shoot before he sold it.
A whole bunch more when I used to take care of an artists car collection as a teen.

Ironically, it was an R8. A close 2nd and 3rd are test driving both a Panamara Turbo and Maserati Quattroporte.

I went to the Jag dealer a month or two ago to drive an F-type. Totally lied about being in the marked to buy a coupe, of course, but I just NEEDED to drive that thing. Hopefully the sales guy calls me when the coupes are in the showroom so I can uphold the ruse a little longer and drive one of those too!

Ferrari 612.
Yes i've driven a faster car than that, like a MP4-12C. But there's nothing more exotic than a 612.

My parents went all mid-life crisis/empty nester and bought a 328xi last spring. Probably the most exotic I've ever driven. I did drive a Ford E-Series with a V10 in college, though. Not a ton of those around. ;)

My 68 Montego, very limited production! haha
I've also worked on some rarities, like a 30's London taxi cab (I'm in the US lol) and a 50's Edsel with the push button trans in the steering wheel and a 427 Cobra Replica and an original 64 dodge 330 police car

An RS5 for a fun but short highway excursion. I like to consider the Willys exotic, but only in the sense that you never see them.

2004 Mustang GT!!
Totally a world apart from my Ford Tempo and Cavalier. Wasn't even paying attention and got up to 140 km/h just by accident.

Define..."exotic"?
This, with a 26' box. That's a GMC C6500 (not the one I drove, but like it).
It's not very fast, but I'll be damned if it isn't fun to drive! There's a mile of deadzone in the steering, the engine would sound rather fantastic with proper pipes, and it would make a kick-ass homemade RV/toy hauler. Driving one for any reason other than moving or work would be ridiculous and silly, that's why I like it.
Runner up: The Scion FR-S. So much potential hoon...

where to begin......

Ok, here goes.
I was in La and I would have been five.
I had found a Ferrari 355 parked in front of a Restaurant, and I was giving it the go-around. The owner comes out of the Restaurant, and asks my Mother if I would like a ride. He was reputable, and owned some sort of business.
He drove like he was batshit crazy, and I had a hell of a time.

750 awhp 911 turbo
Once I got it off my uncles driveway, juttering along as the unforgiving clutch began to bite, I didn't understand the allure as I revved through 2k them 3k (where my wrx comes into life) then 4k rpm happened and all hell broke loose.
A third gear pull in that thing did appreciable tugging on my face, I felt it.

I don't think I have drove anything remotely close to exotic. 790hp Duramax was pretty scary though.

I don't have my driver's license yet, so the most exotic car I've ever sat in the passenger seat was my Aunt's 2003 Slk Kompressor. When I was 5 I thought that thing was the shit (I'm 15 going to be 16 so youdo the math). All that mattered was that I GOT TO PRESS THE BUTTON THAT MADE THE ROOF GO DOWN.

Wow, Captain Douche was present that day. Haha
I was taking a look at a Ferrari California at Le mall, while the Lady Friend was spending all of my money, the owner glares disapprovingly at me from a safe distance.

Haven't really driven anything that amazing, but I have ridden in some cool stuff. What comes to mind:
Lotus Exige
Ferrari 308
C5 Z06
First Generation Viper
Ford GT
Porsche Cayman
Ariel Atom

Most exotic? 1986 Euro-spec Testarossa
Most expensive? Porsche Cayenne Turbo S. Most underwhelming $130k car I could imagine.

my craziest ride wasn't that exotic or crazy my aunt had a rental car her car was in the shop and my uncle picked me up and it was a hemi charger it was pretty fun he said when you have a rental you have to beat on it and drove it at an average of about 70-80 mph
![]() 03/25/2014 at 17:29 |

I got to drive a prototype CNG garbage truck. Does that count? Otherwise, Aston Martin DB9 and The $500 Craigslist Car.

Haha, I recently had a C-Class rental car while the Audi was in the shop.
If only that car could reflect on it's experiences.

I did drive it fairly hard though, in the snow also.

I haven't driven anything worth mention and I'm one of the most die hard auto enthusiasts around. Kind of depressing. I guess the most "exotic" (and most powerful) car I've driven is the wrecked 2002 Camaro z28 that I just bought from auction. That's how bad my car resume is.
Most exotic car I've ridden in is probably a 2014 Mercedes C300, but the most exciting car I have ever been in is a 600 AWHP 2010 Subaru STi. That thing launched like a bat out of hell and ran up to 120 mph before I even knew what was happening to me.

A Land Rover Freelander
Not that exotic. Have driven a Miata though, also, not that exotic

Similar to the one pictured above, a 1968 Mercedes-Benz 600 owned by Walter Wolf ( the Canadian who "saved Lamborghini" and owned the only Canadian F1 team):
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
He also sold his Countachs, one of which went to Japan, another to a museum, the third to unknown private hands. "I am not a collector," Wolf says, simply, "I am a pilot. I owned them just for the personal enjoyment."
He does retain two special cars, a Diablo which he says is, "still a car that you have to drive." The other is a Mercedes-Benz 600 limousine which was with him on that glorious day when Wolf Racing won at Monaco .
I detailed it in the early '00s, and at that time I didn't know who Walter Wolf was, only that he had his logo in the floormats & door sill plates.

I got to borrow a 1968 Firebird 350 last summer.

I'll likely get to drive it again this year. Now that I have a dash cam I'm really looking forward to it.

Ferrari F430 Spider. In Italy. At high rates of speed. On the streets of Maranello. With the top down. Achieved wheel spin take off on the way to 95mph from 0 shifting at redline. Aw-Yeah.

"Exotic"... would have to be either my 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T, 440 Magnum 4-speed manual with a Six Pack added, or the 1969 Dodge Super Bee Six Pack automatic that belonged to a friend of mine. Vacuum operated Six Pack end carburetors + automatic kickdown + 4.10 Dana rear = loads of fun.

I've been in many exotics and ridden in a few as well, but actual driving tops out with a track experience in a Lamborghini Gallardo (e-gear, unfortunately) and my grandpa's Bentley Continental GT.

1940s Dodge Power Wagon with a dump bed & home-made box. Man, that thing was a riot. I was in my late teens at the time, and that's been about 15 years ago, so I don't remember it real well, but it was fun just the same. The thing had a split hood and everything. And no, it hadn't been restored; it had been in use as a farm truck since the 40s, and looked it.
Sadly, I don't have a picture. But here's a similar one, without the dump bed:
I've also driven a 33' 1960 Ford school bus-RV conversion. 6-speed manual. Incredibly easy to drive, aside from the complete lack of power steering. And the fact that the air brakes had a broken hose, meaning if you wanted to slow down, you geared down, then used the parking brake lever.
The fanciest car I've ever driven was a C4 Corvette, which was actually really disappointing; I think it had seen better days. My Miata and RX7 were both more fun (and comfortable) to drive.

Drove an Aston Martin Vantage S briefly around the block. It was fantastic - even though I drove it for a couple minutes I loved every second of it.
